Hey all
Good news here, we’ve been able to slowly finish the work on new Quick Cliq version πŸ™‚
Here is the changes it brings to you:

  • A full Unicode support. For now it gives a possibility to name shortcuts with your own language, not english only. It also improves the way Clips and Memos work.
  • Few useful windows manipulation commands have been added:
    • win_tileh – Tile Windows Horizontally
      win_tilev – Tile Windows Vertically
      win_min – Minimize: All Windows
      win_unmin – Minimize: Undo
      win_togd – Toggle Desktop
      win_tasksw – Task Switcher (Vista+ only)
      win_casc – Cascade Windows

And some of them also available through Windows menu. You can find them in System Shortcuts window under “Windows Commands” label

  • New menu for icons choosing added. It appears when you click on the icon inside main Quick Cliq window. You can define a set of custom icons by placing them in “\Data\user_icons” folder and easily access them through that menu later.
  • Two new appearance options added – one is to divide menu by columns and another is to show icons only without shortcuts labels. So now you can make your menu really compact & smart.
  • A few more changes have been added, which you can see in the changelog.

    Important!
Make sure you are convert your encrypted memos back to the plain text before this update, since it temporarily removes “Encryption” option. It will be returned back in improved form later.
Since unicode support added some of your shortcuts may become empty due to removed restrictions for names. You should recheck your targets and fix them if needed.

We have created a tool to fix old “menu_items.ini” (from QC version before 1.3.00) to the new format. Please use it after update.

Have fun with Quick Cliq and leave us some comments so we could know what you think πŸ˜‰

Great! But I don’t see the option for columns, nor for icons only. Where should I look? Thank you for working on this program!

    Hey, Radu
It’s under “Appearance” tab of “Main Menu” in options

great app, fine update but…I saved my configuration file (quickcliqmenu_items.ini) at a safe place but the updated QCliq did not restore the items. It did show my menus I had created but they were all empty. Have to fill them again by hand?
And, I tried to add a file using the windows rightclick contexmenu option ‘Add to Quick Cliq’ but it didn’t appear in the menu. What am I doing wrong?
But…I simply love the program: one of my most productive tools in Windows7.
Thanks for that!

Hi, Willem
the targets of shortcuts became empty due to removing restrictions for their names. unfortunatly this is necessary step.
We are going to make small tool which will help convert old ini into the new format.

Regarding the second problem, it would be better if you can send us detailed description of this issue since it not reproducing for me

thank you!

Hi Pavel,
Thanks for your quick answer: I appreciate!
Can live with the necessary step you guys had to make. But…
I opened my old quickcliqmenu_items.ini file in a txt reader to read all my old entries in the various menus. (I told you, the old menus themselves are appearing in the new version; they’re just empty)
Then I navigate in explorer to the files, programs, I need to reinstall. I select the program and right click it to bring up the windows contextmenu. There I choose ‘Add to Quick Cliq’. As in the previous QCliq version a Add Shortcut window from Quick Cliq itself pops up giving me the option to choose the menu where to put. I put my first entry in the menu I had it in the previous version. But, when I click ok and bring up Quick Click again by using the mouse gesture, the added shortcut is NOT there, in the Quick Cliq menu.
This is the problem I have to deal with now. Even if I use the normal procedure using the Add/Change option from Quick Cliq the item doesn’t show up.
I just don’t know how to restore Quick Cliq again and…I really am determined to keep using this great tool.
Kind regards,
Willem

Willem,
Send us please menu_items.ini and settings.ini files on email which you can find under “Feedback” menu item in main QC window, we will help you to solve the problem
Please, make sure that context is called for new version of QC – to avoid a possibility of such problem, open Options windows and recheck “Add ‘Add to Quick Cliq’ option to the context menu” item from the new 1.3.00 QC

hi Pavel,
unfortunately I have deleted all the .ini files in a desperate attempt to delete anything related to Quick Cliq. It’s not possible to use Revo Uninstaller to remove all traces from the application in order to clean everything and reinstalling Quick Cliq again completely ‘fresh’. I used Everything search program to remove all traces but…still when I use the contextmenu ‘Add to Quick Cliq’ (and I unchecked and rechecked it again in the new version like you told, with Admin rights) the ‘Add shortcut’ popup from the program still shows my old ‘deleted’ menus. Pavel can you tell me HOW I can completely erase all traces of Quick Cliq in order to be able to have a complete fresh install again?
I would really be thankful because I NEED the program: all the launchers I tried are inferior in many aspects.
kind regards,
willem

Hi, Willem
Sorry for your inconvenience.
To delete all Quick Cliq’s entries from the registry you only need to uncheck four checkboxes at the bottom of “Options” window on General tab of Main Menu

If you still able to use context menu “Add to QC” item after deleting the qc.exe, it means that you have your old qc.exe somewhere linked to that item, with old menus ini either

Please, lets move our bug discussion into emails.
Waiting for reply from you there.

yeah, I agree it would be better to move to email but, I have ‘to make public’ (;-) that after I managed to remove all traces of Quick Cliq, including the registration files, .ini’s and prefs, a restart and fresh install, that everything is working again like a charm….a HUGE charm. I love the program and I’m happy it’s running again, making my (computer) life a bit easier.
Thanks Pavel for the great support. Everyone should notice this as well: good support adds a lot to a good program!
Obrigado/Thank you/ Dank u wel!

I really like the new version and am using it with the icons only option. It looks great. I do have one problem and that is I sometimes forget what some of the icons do! (which is why you have a description in the first place!!). Could you please add a tool tip option that comes up after a short delay with the description when the icons only option is selected?
Thanks,

Pavel · June 6, 2011 at 6:59 pm

Hi, Roger
Such option will most likely appear in the next version of Quick Cliq
For now you can hold CTRL while navigation through the menu to see shortcuts content

How do I uninstall Quick Cliq
Thanks James

    Pavel · April 16, 2012 at 12:31 am

    Hello, James
You need to disable following options to remove registry entries:
Add ‘Add to Quick Cliq’ context menu option
    Run on startup
    S-Menus

Then just delete all QC data

      James · April 16, 2012 at 1:19 am

      Hi Pavel,
      Where do I find
Add β€˜Add to Quick Cliq’ context menu option
      Run on startup
      S-Menus
Treat me as a novice user
      Thanks
      James

        Pavel · April 16, 2012 at 1:57 am

You need to open “QC Editor” window ( or Add/Change in former versions ), then open settings window. There you will find necessary options on “General” tab
